Although a lot of what the author is saying in “Waking Up and Taking Charge,” I don’t understand, I am able to grasp the concept that students aren’t helped much when it comes to paying for college. Students a lot of the times don’t understand what they are getting themselves into when they sign for a loan. We put ourselves in danger by having such a high debt. Anya Kamenetz makes valid points when she talks about how unaware 18-23 year olds are when it comes to debt, loans and bills. She talks about how Yale and in Canada students formed groups to campaign lower costs at schools

1. Personally I have never felt like I was alienated from politics. However, I have witnessed times when older people have made younger people feel inferior about politics. Some older people feel that they have more intelligence or experience about politics than younger people and they do not want to hear it.
2. Honestly I do not find a college student-young adult PAC appealing because its just not something that I am into. I am not into politics nor do I understand it quite like other people do. If I had the chance to take a role in such a group I probably wouldn’t unless I fully understood everything about it
3. Having that type of outlook is good because you are always half full. You believe that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it, and most of the time when you think that, you do. I think this contributes to college students and parents because parents usually want to push their kids to do whatever is best for them and what will make them successful and happy. Along with that comes a great deal of money depending how far you want to go. If you wanted to be a doctor because thats your lifelong dream, you should chase it but be aware that it will put you thousands of dollars in debt. And other times if you come out of college not even using your degree, you could be making a significant amount less and struggle paying back your debt. Students should have meetings with all kinds of advisors and counselors before deciding to go forth with college. It can help them evaluate their situation and their dreams and decide whats best for them in the end.
